Office 365 for our LogiCloud hosting service |
In order to use the LogiCloud hosting service, an Office 365 license is required for each user. This license is not included with the service.
This document presents the options available in order to use or acquire the required license(s).
Compatible licences
In order to conform to Microsoft’s licensing policies, only the following licenses will function in a Cloud environment (multi-leaseholder environment):
- Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise (formerly Office 365 ProPlus)
- Microsoft 365 Business Premium
- Office 365 Enterprise E3
- Office 365 Enterprise E5
Any other licence will offer an error message upon activation rendering Office unusable.
Why is Office required for Logilys applications?
Many functions of our applications require Office. See below for a list of functions that require the use of Word, Excel or Outlook.
If there are many LogiCloud users, it is not mandatory for each of them to possess an Office license, but the functions in question will be unusable and will generate errors for these users.
A license is required for the first user and is strongly suggested for the others as well.
Functions requiring Office
Mailings
Mailing functions of our applications use Word to manage Master Documents and proceed to the merging of these documents.
eBlasts
The eBlast module also uses Word to manage Master Documents.
Application update
Word is required to update Master Documents.
Data exportation
The Excel export function enables you to quickly produce data tables and graphs.
Custom report exportation
Custom reports can be exported to Excel.
Outlook Integration
Outlook integration permits the sending of emails from the application (for example sending a report, sending contact information, or simply sending an email to a client).
Activating an existing license
If you already possess compatible licenses, you can activate them, for each user, by opening Word or Excel when connected to the LogiCloud. The email and password linked with the Office 365 in question must be used.
Do not hesitate to place a support request (to help you activate your licenses) or send us the connection information if you wish us to configure the accounts upon their creation.
Purchasing a license
If you do not possess a compatible license, buying Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise will be necessary. Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise contains the following applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, OneNote, Publisher and Access.
Opting for Office 365 Enterprise E3 or E5 would be useless as these licenses possess functions that are not useful for this environment. Please refer to Microsoft Canada or Microsoft France if you desire more information.
Purchasing from Logilys
Logilys can resell Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise. Please contact us for more details. Following this, please refer to the “Activating an existing license” section and proceed to the activation of your license.
Purchasing from Microsoft
You may also purchase your license directly from Microsoft Canada or Microsoft France.
Purchasing from Microsoft with a nonprofit plan (NPO)
Microsoft offers special prices for nonprofit organizations. Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise is then available at a lower monthly cost. Please visit the Office 365 website for non-profits in Canada or in France for more details.
Please note that Logilys cannot resell licenses at nonprofit prices.
In order to benefit from nonprofit pricing, you must have your status recognized by Microsoft, a procedure that can take up to 20 days, and then buy the necessary licenses.
Having your nonprofit (NPO) status recognized by Microsoft
You must go on the Office 365 website for nonprofits for either Canada or France, then click on the green “Get started” button. Please note this procedure is exclusively in english. Once you’ve completed the procedure, access to the “Microsoft Nonprofit Portal” will be possible with the Microsoft account you will have just created. The status of your request will appear in this portal.
It it will not be possible to acquire a nonprofit licence until your request has been accepted.
Purchasing at the nonprofit pricing
Once your acceptance is received, you must connect to your “Microsoft Nonprofit Portal” and proceed with your license purchase. Once in the portal, go to the “Administration” section (Office 365 Admin Center). Using the menu, go to “Invoice”, then “Subscriptions”, and click on “Add a subscription”.
Find “Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise (nonprofit)” in order to proceed with the license purchase. Take great care to select the license for nonprofit and not the regular priced license. A licence must be purchased for each LogiCloud user (see the “Why is Office required for Logilys applications?” section above for possible exceptions).
Once your licences have been bought, they must be assigned to users. In order to do so, from the “Administration” section (Office 365 Admin Center): go to the menu “Users”, then “Active Users”. Click on “Add User” and fill in the form, then assign a license to this user. You will be required to repeat this process for every user.
Once done, please refer to the “Activating an existing license” section above on how to activate those licenses.
